When you criticize people, you’re expressing your own inadequacies or insecurities about something. Putting others down is a way people attempt to build themselves up but what they’re providing is a substantial contribution to creating a negative environment. Think before you speak or react negatively. Take under consideration what it is you’re really trying to communicate and why. If you can’t do it respectfully, then wait until you can. Those situations are a perfect opportunity for you to go inside of your own life and do a little work.

The tendency to complain about deficiencies that others have is greater than our willingness to look at our own life and make changes. When you change yourself you can alter your mindset and teach yourself to solicit positive results instead of fixating on the negative aspects of life. That’s when you will experience the manifestation of positive change and perhaps inspire others to change too. There is so much that begins with what you say and how you say it. Keep in mind your body language and actions speak volumes as well. Determine what your true intent is before you communicate your thoughts. If you begin with anger or negativity, that’s what your results will bring. Elect to bring a bit of inspiration instead.

  1. Marala, YOU are the one who taught me to work on myself, from the very first day I met you on Twitter, and I thank you SO much for that! You taught me all about negativity. And as far as working on myself, I have used the help of my new relationship with God and learned that God does not want us to live a life of negativity and toxic thoughts. He wants us to be happy and alive. God sacrificed his only son Jesus for our sins and we need to be thankful to him for doing that for us. God wants us to be thankful for being alive and for being a child of his. He wants us to live each and every day to the fullest and be as positive as we can! There is no room in our lives for negativity if we believe in God and what he stands for and what he has done for us and what he will do for us. We have to BELIEVE! Thank you, Miss Marala for being my personal Angel and for teaching me about negativity. I was at such at vulnerable time in my life, angry and mad, and extremely lost. God Bless you, Marala. xoxoxo

  2. You hit the nail on the head again! I had a fight with an old friend of many years he said awful things for the last time and now I refuse to speak to him because it’s impossible to have a positive resolution to a fight that he is having within himself and projecting onto others. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and positive resolution.

  3. Very practical and true. People get very offended when they feel you are stumping on their feet. It happened with me when I started speaking out about my Mother-Daughter Sexual Abuse on national Television. Most listeners threw stones at me saying I should not have exposed my family like that and I got all sorts of insults even divorced by my own family, while a few pulled my garments on the side confiding about the same secret they have kept for years. I believe the roar and negativity comes from those who think they have dealt with their pain or the family culture of keeping secrets should be reserved at the expense of the pain and victims. Your words Marala are very timely and on point as usual.

  4. I’m always looking at myself and aspiring to change, but there IS this ONE person at work who makes my skin crawl. I’ll work on reigning in “those” thoughts as well.
